life's an adventure with you

When you're still looking for your other half, you often think to yourself – he/she is definitely out there somewhere, just not on my continent. And that was really the case for me, because my husband John comes from South Africa – practically the other side of the world – and our story is definitely worthy of a film or photo. Maybe I'll tell you about it sometime ;-)

My great fortune is having found someone who loves photography just as much as I do (he has managed to make me feel comfortable in front of the camera), and who loves exploring new places just as much.

Because of our background, we often visit South Africa or the Netherlands (where I have roots), but we still try to visit new places every year and experience different ways of life to broaden our horizons . I'd like to take you along to a few of these places here.

Have fun with your mind travels :-)

Ah, Holland. I know, you're not really supposed to call the place where we have our summer cottage "Holland"—but we do anyway :-) My dad is Dutch, and since I was born, I've spent a few days in the southernmost part of the country at least every other year. A little spot right on the Belgian border. My place to recharge and the only holiday destination where I can completely unwind. Don't expect bright sunshine there, though, and there's almost always a headwind. So pack a rain jacket or windbreaker, sweatpants, and lots and lots of books. Because apart from the North Sea and a few sheep, there's not much around our little cottage. It's a very rural area that's becoming increasingly popular with tourists but isn't yet overrun. It's also an ideal base for city trips to Bruges, Antwerp, or Ghent—all within an hour's drive.
